Due to the reconfiguration of facilities at St Mary’s University we are unfortunately losing use of its sports hall that has been the ‘home’ of Richmond Knights community programme in the west of the borough since 2010. The partnership between Sport St Mary’s and Richmond Knights (known as ‘SIMMSwish’) has been extremely successful, seeing thousands of local children taking part in weekly club sessions, holiday camps and inter-school tournaments. We would like to thank all the staff who contributed to the success of this partnership and the development of our club from the outset.

We are pleased to be able to continue to work with St Mary’s on their exciting ‘Focus-Sport Strategy’ with plans for Knights coach Andrew Wallace to take the position of Head Coach of the University Men’s 1st team. In addition, St Mary’s players will have the opportunity to represent the Knights Senior Men’s team as well as continue in our coach development programme within our community sessions.

Front-of-Sixth-Form-1??????????????Naturally, we are disappointed not to be continuing at St Mary’s but are in the fortunate position to have been offered an alternative that will enhance the continuous development of our club. Waldegrave School for Girls is building a brand new sports hall on their site in Twickenham and have invited us to make this our base in the west of the borough. Our open sessions will be moving from St Mary’s to take place at Waldegrave on Wednesdays. In addition, the majority of our team training sessions will be based here as well as hosting all of our National League and Senior Men’s fixtures on Sundays throughout the season. (Our sessions at Christ’s School, Teddington Sports Centre and Shene Sports & Fitness Centre are unaffected and remain the same time/day for the upcoming season).??????????????

The school regard this new relationship as a prime opportunity to develop basketball as a key sport. To assist this, Richmond Knights will be providing coaching sessions every week for their pupils. This new partnership will provide easier access for students from the school to make the transition in to our club sessions which will further improve our girls programme.

We look forward to this new era in our club’s evolution and hope that all of our members will join us at Waldegrave School to benefit from the opportunities this new facility will offer.

Full details of all of our club sessions can be found here and sessions can be booked through the RKBC office on 020 8797 0477.
