Knights Basketball Academy Announces New Sports Medicine Partner

Knights Basketball Academy today announced a new sponsorship arrangement with Physio & Therapy London, based locally in Teddington, that will enable Knights players and coaches to receive top level physiotherapy to both help prevent and treat injuries and to maintain sound physical health for Knight’s Basketball programme participants.

Physio & Therapy London has been helping clients maintain or return to full health following injury and to achieve optimum fitness for more than seven years. As specialists in physiotherapy, sports massage, injury prevention and rehabilitation, they have treated GB Olympic athletes and medal winners as well as many of the Australian Track and Field Team.

Knights Basketball Academy Director, James Merchant, said of the new partnership, “To have direct access to such expertise has been a goal of ours for some time. Physio & Therapy London will have an impact across our Academy and enable us to offer an even higher standard of service and care to our athletes.”

Knights Basketball Team Members will have access to free, weekly physio assessments and treatments at the club’s home venue at Waldegrave School. Physio & Therapy London will also provide discounted services at the local Teddington clinic to all Knights players and their families.

Gemma Stephens, Director of Physio and Therapy London said, “We are very excited to be sponsoring Knights Basketball, and we look forward to working together to help maintain the health of the Knights’ players and to promote such a successful sports club within our community.”

In addition to the range of services available to all Knights players, Physio & Therapy London will directly assign a game-day physio to the Knight’s Basketball Senior Men’s National League team and will operate courtside to support the Knights players and coaches at home games throughout the season.

Knights Basketball Academy Manager Andrew Wallace sees the value in reducing the impact injuries have on the development of players. “Having Physio & Therapy working within our Academy will improve our players understanding of injury prevention and rehabilitation and reduce the time any injured players have to spend away from the court,” he said.

Merchant added, “We are very proud of our programme and extremely thankful for our sponsors including global brand, Under Armour and local estate agent, Griffin Stevens.”

Knights Basketball also partners with St. Mary’s University, LBRut Sports Development, Richmond School Sports Partnership, Esher College, Christ’s School and Waldegrave School.
