On December 17th the Knights Coaches and St Mary’s University Mens 1sts put on an exhibition game for a crowd of over 150 Knights members and parents. The objective was to show players and parents alike the excitement and intensity of this fantastic team sport, and the teams certainly delivered! St Mary’s put on a deadly shooting display from the 3-pt arc, leaving Knights trailing the entire game. However, a late rally pulled Knights back in to it and with 7 seconds remaining their top scorer Andrew Wallace hit a tough jumper from the top of the key to pull 3pts clear. St Mary’s responded by pushing the ball down-court and got the ball in the hands of Lloyd Warner who released a shot from deep as the buzzer sounded. The Knights players and supporters were stunned as the shot hit the target and sent the game in to overtime! Again, St Mary’s pulled ahead but Knights, with the crowd cheering them on, came from behind and Jake Thomas cruised to a breakaway lay-up that sealed the victory.

The crowd, packed in to the Performance Hall of St Mary’s University (A hall built especially for Olympic training squads in 2012) were also treated to shoot-outs for Knights merchandise from Santa and a half-time display of Wheelchair Basketball from the Knights u15 & u19 WB teams.

Look out for the re-match on April 4th and come and support your coaches as St Mary’s attempt revenge!!!
