As part of the Knights on-going quest to inspire and develop our players towards success, we are excited to announce a new collaboration that will offer access to a level of coaching that many of our players may never have experienced.
Starting in November, we will be offering our ‘Performance Clinics’ with skills trainer Gennaro Augenti (Coach G) and Knights Senior Men’s and u16 Girls Head Coach, Isaac Omirin. These weekly, 1-hour sessions will be specifically tailored to the player and team development principles of our Knights teams to ensure the learning is relevant for every individual.
Coach G, a former Pure Sweat certified skills development trainer who now runs ‘G.A. Performance’ is teaming up with Knights to offer his extensive curriculum of thousands of drills and techniques to improve players’ weaknesses using his experience of training NCAA Division 1 athletes in the USA and professional teams in the UK and Italy.
“I’m driven by a tremendous passion for the game of basketball, with a very high competitive edge. I think I have the right ingredients to inspire and help players to get to the next level and become the best version of themselves”
The clinics will be open to all Knights team players in year 7 and above and will run at the Knights two main venues – Waldegrave School in Twickenham and Christ’s School in Richmond – to enable easy access for club members. As a new initiative, Knights are offering the first round of clinics at an introductory rate of just £10 per session, although spaces are limited to ensure the coaches can provide the level of instruction that each individual requires.
Clinic 1: Tuesdays at Waldegrave School, 6:45-7:45pm with Coach G and Coach Isaac
Clinic 2: Wednesdays at Christ’s School, 7:30-8:30pm, with Coach G
Isaac Omirin, who received the South-East England Children’s Coach of the Year award for 2019, is constantly looking for ways to help Knights players and is looking forward to working with Coach G: “I believe the Performance Clinics will be of huge benefit to our club because our players will be able to develop more individual skills and a greater knowledge of the game. Our club coaches will also develop a better understanding of individual skill development that will have a wider impact across the entire club.”
Coach Umar, Knights NBL Team Coordinator who has played and coached at NCAA-level in the States, sees the value in this new initiative: “This is an unparalleled opportunity for growth and development for the players being directly instructed by two premier skills development coaches in the sport. This clinic will raise the level for our club and set the example for what can be achieved with consistency, hard work, and dedication to the craft of basketball.”
